The Schools Engagement Programme was established by the BHS to widen participation and give young people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds at non-selective schools an opportunity to gain a flavour of hip surgery, as well as insight into the wider medical industry.
By attending the BHS meeting, students encounter a range of industry professionals, are exposed to diverse technologies, and learn about the many roles required to form a surgical team. The programme is now in its fourth year and has become a permanent feature of the BHS annual meeting, consistently receiving excellent feedback from students, school staff, and faculty alike.'
