“If we were good at everything, we would have no need for each other.” – Simon Sinek
As I step into the role of BHS President, I am reminded of the value of teamwork and collaboration. The strength of our Society lies in its members, each contributing their expertise, ideas, and passion for advancing hip surgery. I am honored to follow in the footsteps of my esteemed predecessors and look forward to continuing their work, with a focus this year on tackling inequalities in access to healthcare.
In this newsletter, we reflect on a hugely successful Annual Scientific Meeting in Harrogate, where we saw record attendance, engaging discussions, and growing international collaborations. Immediate Past President Anil Gambhir led a fantastic event that set the stage for future partnerships, particularly with the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. We also introduce new Executive members, each bringing fresh perspectives and energy to the Society.
Beyond the conference, we delve into critical topics affecting our field, including the evolving landscape of revision hip networks and the implications of NHS England’s restructuring. These changes will shape how we deliver care, and as a Society, we must be proactive in ensuring that our members and patients are supported through these transitions.
There are many ways for members to engage this year. The Culture and Diversity Committee is seeking new members to drive important initiatives, and our research fellowship program continues to offer exciting opportunities for those looking to contribute to cutting-edge advancements. Additionally, we highlight the upcoming European Hip Society Meeting in Thessaloniki this October, an excellent opportunity to connect with colleagues across Europe.
Looking ahead, planning is already underway for the BHS Meeting in London 2026. If you have ideas, wish to contribute, or want to get involved in any way, I encourage you to reach out. This Society thrives on active participation, and together, we can continue to push boundaries and drive positive change in our field.
