Injectable biologics guidance from the BOA

The BOA has recently produced an information document on the use of injectable ‘orthobiologic’ treatments as an option for osteoarthritis and published it on their website HERE  In recent years there has been growing interest in the use of these treatments which has increased due to the disruption to surgical treatments that occurred during the course of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Patient organisations have approached the BOA for information and in response they have written the paper to help inform people who are thinking about trying ‘orthobiologic’ treatments. The BOA hope this will be useful for clinicians and patients and will provide a reliable source of information on this topic to help people make informed decisions about their medical care.  The information document will be kept under review and updated if further evidence becomes available.

The March edition of the Journal of Trauma and Orthopaedics HERE  also features a number of articles on orthobioloigc injectables which may be of interest.
