Further details:
This fellowship encompasses both non-arthritic hip pathology as well as complex primary joint replacement. UCLH is the largest and busiest young hip unit in the UK with 3 full time consultants, and has a ring fenced centre for elective work on site. The fellow will be exposed to a broad range of non-arthroplasty hip conditions alongside a comprehensive training in assessment and management, including hip arthroscopy and femoral and acetabular osteotomy, in addition to routine and complex primary total hip replacement using both the DAA and posterior approach. There is a weekly young hip MDT and a fortnightly arthroplasty MDT which the fellow will be actively involved into. There is a 1 in 3 cover for the elective centre which attracts a pay supplement. The fellow will be expected to do a morning ward round with the CNS and staff and then be available on the telephone until 5pm. There are no evening or overnight on call commitments and no trauma commitment.
